5 Things To Remember When Taking Your Motorhome To Europe

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 8:53 am

Great Britain has some beautiful countryside and bustling cities and, being an island, there is always miles of coast just a few hours drive away offering everything from long sandy beaches to picturesque cliffs. On top of this, there is the rest of Europe just over the English Channel offering a diverse selection of cultures waiting to be explored. What better way is there to explore these countries than from the comfort and freedom of a motorhome?

Most seasoned motorhome drivers will know the basics about the different rules and regulations of driving in European countries, but if you don’t, you’ll need to know them. Ignorance is not an excuse and certainly not one that will sit with a foreign policeman who may end up pulling you over.

There are a few rules that apply when it comes to driving in Europe that you will need to be aware of. The majority of Western Europe countries drive on the right hand side of the road and give way to traffic coming from the left on roundabouts. I know this may sound a little patronizing, but this must always be in your conscious mind. This also means you should leave extra room when over taking to make sure you can see if anything’s coming.

If you’re driving your own right hand drive motorhome in Europe, most European countries specify you must have headlight beam deflectors. Because vehicles in the UK drive on the left, the headlights automatically point towards the left slightly (so you don’t blind on coming traffic), since oncoming traffic on the continent is going to be on your left, you’re required to have deflectors on your motorhome to stop your headlights going straight into the eyes of oncoming drivers.

Although drinking and driving is a serious offence in the UK, there an even lower tolerance in Europe, with most western Europe countries, being over 0.5mg/ml (the UK limit is 0.8mg/ml) can results in on the spot fines, confiscation of your licence and/or motorhome or imprisonment.

Although most responsible motorhome drivers will always carry warning triangles, high visibility jackets and spare bulbs when driving in Europe, it is actually a legal requirement in most European countries. Spain for example specifies you carry two warning triangles, as well as a spare pair of glasses if the driver’s eyesight is impaired. Your motorhome should also display identification it’s from the UK too, most modern vehicles will have this on the number plate anyway, but if you’re motorhome doesn’t, you’ll need a GB sticker on the back of it. Again, failure to comply with any of these can results in serious repercussions,

Speed cameras and speed traps tend to be a little stricter than in the UK too, the speed limits are displayed as km/h rather than mph, if caught speeding you can again be subject to on the spot fines or even imprisonment. Different countries will have different rules regarding speeding on their roads, in France; speed camera detectors are illegal even if they’re turned off. The German Autobahns may have no speed limit as such, but many stretches of it do.

Be aware of individual regulations in different countries, many cities in Germany have low emission zones for which your motorhome may require a permit to travel through. In Spain, not indicating correctly on motorways when you’re over taking, pulling back in or pulling on or off the motorway can result in a fine. In order to use the motorways in Switzerland and some other European roads, you must have a Vignette, this can be purchased either in advance or at border control, this is a toll tax and must be displayed in your motorhome window.

Every county is different, and they all have something different and unique to offer. Make sure you know about any laws and driving regulations that can affect you (even if it’s just an hour or two with Google one afternoon). Make sure all your documentation is up to date and take it with you (ensure it’s always kept somewhere safe). Don’t forget to have fun and be safe.

A guide to investing

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:51 am

By Jeff Lakie

Everyone seems to have their own secret or strategy or trick to making money in the stock market. Here are two strategies that have helped many people.

1. It’s your time, how do you want to spend it?

Some people suggest high risk investments and watch them all day. Others say that simply buying good quality mutual funds and hanging onto them for a long time is the best option.

One of the deciding factors for you in developing your investment strategy should be the amount of time that you are willing to spend on monitoring your investments. There is nothing wrong with investing in high-risk investments if you have the time to spend researching, analyzing, and monitoring the price movement. There’s also nothing wrong with the “buy and hold” method, if you do not have the time to spend on watching your investments.

The people who have been very successful in investing are able to match their investment style with the amount of time they can spend on investing.

2. It’s your money, how much can you risk?

The people who have lost everything on the stock market were not careful at managing their money. The stock market is not a gamble, if you’re careful. But you need to be careful in what you buy and how much you buy.

You can decide what is right to buy based on the amount of time you want to spend in the market. Knowing how much to buy is another issue. Don’t put more into your higher risk stocks than you’re willing to lose!

You may find greater safety in buying mutual funds or bonds and if you have money you don’t want to see disappear, those are probably good options for you. If you are sitting on your children’s education fund, you probably do not want to be sinking that in stocks that could potentially gain or lose as much as 50% in a day!

Knowing how much time you have to spend on your portfolio and how much you are willing to risk are two strategies that can help you make wise financial decisions when it comes to investing.

Beautiful Parks in Falkirk

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:30 am

Falkirk is a town situated in the centre of Scotland, not far from cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow. The population in Falkirk is 32 379. The tourist information centre in Falkirk is situated on Glebe Street, which is not far from Falkirk’s Grahamston Railway Station. Falkirk is an enjoyable town for many reasons. The main attraction in Falkirk is in the west end and is called the Falkirk Wheel. Falkirk is home to some lovely parks and gardens, which is why I enjoy visiting Falkirk. My favourite parks in Falkirk are:

Callendar Park - This beautiful place is over 170 acres. It is well known for the many daffodils in the spring time. Throughout most of the year Callendar Park is blooming with flowers. Callendar Park has so much to do for all the family; there are plenty of activities to choose from. These include, a play area which has a bouncy castle, a huge slide, a golf course, crazy golf, a lake which can be used for boating, and electric cars. As well as all of these activities, there is also a big area of grass for picnics. This park is a nice place to walk. During the summer, there are a variety of events held in the park, as well as concerts. From the centre of Falkirk, it only takes 5 minutes to get to Callendar Park. In the park there is also a kiosk which sells a variety of snacks.

Dollar Park - This is a lovely place to enjoy a stroll, alone or with a pet. Dollar Park is peaceful and has gorgeous displays of shrubs. This park is not far from the Falkirk town centre, it’s only five minutes away. Dollar Park is open throughout the whole year and has a kid’s play area which has as bouncy castle.

Muiravonside Country Park- This Country Park is quite big, and is 170 acres. Muiravonside has so much to do, especially for the children. There is horse riding, a play area and plenty of area for long walks. In the park there is also lots of wildlife, flowers and trees to see. The park is open throughout the year. Also in the park, you will find a Ranger Service, in which there are, people to guide you around the park.

Bantaskine Estate - This park is fantastic for both long walks and short strolls. It is very peaceful and enjoyable. Bantaskine Estate is a really pleasant park. You can walk along the Union Canal banks or stroll through the woodlands. In 1746 the battle of Falkirk took place in the area of Bantaskine Estate. This battle was one by the Jacobites.

These very nice parks in Falkirk are great for a day out; I highly recommend each of them. Public transport around each park is quite good. I love visiting Falkirk, just to see the parks and to have a memorable day with my family. I find that Falkirk is very unique and each park has something special. There’s never time to get bored when visiting Falkirk.

Adding Logos to Promotional Products

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:10 pm

Promotional items are goods given away without charge to the community in an attempt to advertise a business or boost sales or awareness of some particular merchandise or service. They are now an essential part of advertising and marketing and they deserve a closer look.

Promotional items are often distributed at trade shows, used in direct mail and as part of guerrilla advertising campaigns. According to marketing experts promotional items are effective in boosting sales by increasing brand and company awareness.

For example, imagine a small notepad with 25 pages. Each page has your logo imprinted on it. If that notepad costs 50 cents, then there are 25 impressions at a cost of two cents an impression. Now, if that page gets passed on to someone else, the number of “views” increases and the cost per impression therefore decreases. This can be a very cost effective means of advertising and promoting your business, provided it is done correctly.

It is absolutely essential for all corporate bodies to realize the importance of having custom-designed logos on notepads. A professional notepad logo design goes a long way towards establishing the identity and the image of the company.

Notepads are frequently used in offices, so it makes good sense to provide your clients with promotional notepads with your logo on it. Your message and logo is sure to get noticed in any environment and will give your business a lasting and impressive brand identity.

The line between promotions and incentives used to be defined by price point, volume and retail name brands. Promotional products tended to be generic, purchased in large quantities at low cost and imprinted with only a company’s logo and/or message. Typical examples were coffee mugs, utility knives and inexpensive pens.

Incentive products were higher-quality, higher cost items purchased in smaller quantities and imprinted with only the manufacturer’s logo.

Retail companies have entered the incentive/promotional product industry, realizing that orders of 1,000 watches, 5,000 key fobs, or 10,000 golf balls are good business and all the company has to do is add someone else’s logo on its product.

Branding and setting the tone of how a company is perceived by its employees and the consumer in the marketplace is a priority of any incentive plan. When a company sponsors a golf tournament, it wants something more than visibility for its investment. Awarding a golf bag as a prize reflects well on the sponsoring company and reinforces the emotional connection with its vendors, clients and even competitors.

Some manufacturers have recently changed policies on adding logos to their products. Brand name companies now allows sponsors’ logos to be embroidered alongside their swoosh logo. For example at an award ceremony, both the sponsoring company’s logo and Nike’s were shown together in a strongly positive emotional context.

Advertisers are well aware of the formula: strong emotion = memory. Thus, organizations are now discovering the benefits of associating their brand with other images, icons and especially other brands.

When a company co-logos with a respected manufacturer, the motivational value of the incentive rises over generic products. Both companies benefit.

Today manufacturers are especially keen on getting into the promotional products market as it offers more volume than the traditionally smaller incentive products market.
